Hi beautifuls! For those of you who don’t know me or why I am now blogging, let me explain!
I just recently graduated from The University of Arizona and spent about four weeks of my summer nannying for a sweet family in Puerto Rico. Amazing opportunity, right?! Right! Especially since that is the closest I have ever come to traveling to a different country! Crazy, right?! Right! (But that’s a story for another post!) I told my family and friends that I would keep them updated with pictures and statuses on Facebook. Well, let me tell you something, my Mamma always taught us to be people of our words and when I say something…I mean it!
Apparently my obsessive amount of Facebook statuses, photos, and photo captions lead my loved ones to realize something that I have always known…I love to take pictures and I love to write! I came home to countless people telling me “you should really get a blog!” Now, I understand that this COULD be code for them saying “Em, I’m sick of seeing your statuses pop up on my mini feed every morning” or “Could you take your beautiful Puerto Rican pictures and lengthy comments elsewhere please?!” However, I like to think of myself as an optimist and chose to take it as a compliment!
I have decided to combine two things that I adore, taking pictures and talking to others (in this case talking to you through my writing) and follow through with something that I’ve always wanted to do!
The inspiration for this blog comes from one of my favorite sayings that I have painted on beautiful wooden sign that is part of my sign collection (also, a story for another post)! It is pictured above. As a girl who probably could not get any girlier, “beauty” is something that I have always loved! Ever since I was born I had a bow in my hair, begged for those red sparkly Mary-Janes and when asked by my parents where my beauty really come from I answered “From you Mamma!”
Of course, that was not the answer that they were looking for. Although, it did get me the red sparkly Mary- Janes! The answer that they were looking for was that my beauty came from the inside. This is something that I came to realize as I grew older and as I continue to grow, learn and experience life my definition of beauty in life has continued to grow as well.
It sounds cliché, but those of you that know me and my story, know that it’s true. It has become a great passion in my life to promote positive self esteem and healthy body image through recognizing the beauty in everything, helping others recognize their own beauty and inspiring them to live beautiful lives as well.
I hope that you enjoy my pictures and posts, but most of all I hope that you’re inspired to “Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful”!
